Quiet Portable Generator

For the home, a quiet portable generator set is a very useful piece equipment in times of power outages during natural calamities or when the power grid breaks down. Depending on the output of your machine, you can keep not only your lights burning but also your fridge, computer, and television running. It is also handy when you are out camping in the woods, touring in your RV, or sailing on your boat.

Construction workers putting up a new building with no electric power supply as yet could use a portable generator to provide lighting and to power up their tools. Movie productions filming on locations with no electricity would need equipment to run their lights, cameras, and other gadgetry.

Park events such as musicals and shows, temporary booths during festivals and fairs, sports events especially those conducted where there are no power lines would require a portable source of electric power.

Certain types of generators, however, emit a continuous loud drone that can be irritating, or at least that can disturb the event for which the generator is needed in the first place. This especially true as the generator gets bigger. Small hand-portable types may be quiet enough but the push-cart types that can supply several thousand watts can get exasperating.

Fortunately, manufacturers have recognized this problem and have come up with quiet portable generators. Virtually all of them have their own model but it is often acknowledged that Honda, Yamaha, and Kipor are the leaders in this area.

The technology for quiet generators lies in the inverter. Inverter models can operate at lower RPMs and still provide the necessary power output. This reduces noise and has the added bonus of burning less fuel as well as a steady stream of electricity that is suitable for even your most sensitive electronic devices. With this technology, the sound emitted from the generator can be lower than 65 dB, which is just about the level of normal conversation.

Although these generators are easy to operate, they do require some maintenance work. You will need to run them at least once a month even if you do not have any need for back-up power. This will circulate oil into all its inner parts, run fresh fuel through its carburetor, and charge its battery. This is actually very minimal work considering all the benefits your quiet portable generator set can give without disturbing you, your neighbors, or the birds at the camping grounds.
